Wego is a global supplier of Polydimethylsiloxane

Wego Chemical Group is a leading global supplier and distributor of Silicones such as Polydimethylsiloxane in varying viscosity degrees. It is found under CAS # 63148-62-9 and EINECS # 203-492-7 and referred to as E900, its code for European food additives. These Silicone Fluids have the molecular formula of (C2H6OSi)n. It can also be referred to as PMDS, Dimethyl Fluid, Methylpolysiloxane, and Silicone Fluid.

PMDS was originally developed during the rubber shortage during the Second World War that caused synthetic alternative to be researched. It was not commercialized for widespread use until the 1960 famously known to be in silly putty.

The general method taken to synthesize Polydimethylsiloxanes is through placing methyl chloride and silicon to react together in a heated chamber and catalyzed the reaction with copper oxide to produce dimethyldichlorsilane. This then reacts with water to produce PDMS. Creating a clear, hydrophobic rubbery gel that is acts as non-Newtonian fluid.

PMDS is naturally hydrophobic, preventing wetting. This makes PMDS’s primary uses ideal as a surfactant, foam reduction agent in oil and drugs. It is also widely used in cosmetics from moisturizers to conditioner.

PMDS also is used greatly in a process called soft lithography. Where complex narrow fluids systems are created with PDMS parallel to microelectronics. A process used heavily in the biological and medical systems utlizing PDMS's capability as a elctronic chemical. Other PMDS applications apply to fields of lubricants, household goods, refrigerants, and textiles as well.

As a leading supplier and distributor, Wego provides efficient and reliable logistics management, handling, stocking and delivery of chemical products like Polydimethylsiloxanes, and can offer shipments in multiple packing sizes, viscosities and grades.
